Communication Barriers

Personally, I think that technology helps to overcome communication barriers within healthcare. By having the access to technology I feel that it allows healthcare professionals to communicate to one another in a more professional and confidential way. For example, using electronic health records within a healthcare centre is beneficial because healthcare professionals are not discussing patient’s health aloud in person. Also, electronic health records decreases the amount of errors that are made due to reading messy hand writing by healthcare professionals in charts. As a result this can affect the care a patient receives. Although, I believe technology is beneficial to overcoming communication barriers within healthcare. I still feel it has some negative aspects to it as well, affecting therapeutic communication between patients and healthcare professionals.
